49 REO truck SD-19 Windshield rubber gasket

1. So far I've been unable to locate a new windshield rubber gasket, after phoning most of the companies who specialize in such parts. Someone must know where to find that item. Perhaps a REO owner has made or has had made this item by buying extra perimeter rubber and then with the extra, slicing it down the middle (two pieces) the length of the divider part and next gluing those two together and then gluing it to the outside rubber?

2. Filler neck grommet for the gas tank filler pipe. This truck has a 2 1/4" OD filler neck, and the hole diameter in the cab is 3". Found plenty of filler necks online, but the companies, I've contacted, don't have the actual dimensions shown with their grommet.

For a Windshield that opens, # 2897 from Restoration Specialties in Wimber PA. www.restorationspecialties.com (it is sold buy the foot)
I need a filler grommet also but temporarily I am using some rubber edge guard rubber, I think # DERL from same company.

I was able to find a filler neck grommet for the cab, from Tom Warren in Amarillo, Texas. It was $30.00 (approx.). Tom works on Diamond T pickups.
Also, my customer ordered The windshield rubber for his 1949 REO truck, after comparing sectional views and dimensions from Steele Rubber Products. We put the rubber in, around the windshield opening, but were unable to get the glass to fit. After some pondering about it, I cut 2 - 6" pieces out of
the excess, put them in the proper place and when looking at them sideways, I noticed groove for the glass, in the upper piece of rubber did not line up with groove in the lower piece. Solution? We ended up trimming down the "back" of the rubber, along the top and corners of the windshield opening, about 1/8" to 3/16" with a SHARPE utility knife, and then the glass fit perfectly. Be very careful when doing that procedure.
